Allow me to voice my strong support for the proposed port at Longview. I am the Vice President of Operations for a large mining complex in Colombia, South America. I know first hand the environmental effects and social issues with coal mining, rail transport and port operations. Although the opening of the Longview Port will be in direct competition to our mine, I support the access of US coal to the Pacific markets. The environmental concerns of the port are over stated by the environmental groups. The rail traffic in this area will not measurable degrade the quality of life along the rail corridor or the port area. Large modern coal ports are clean, efficient and safe. This port will insure good jobs in the interior of the country and in the state of Washington at the port. Please support the Longview project and keep the US coal market competitive on the world stage.

Sincerely, Ron Damron Ron Damron rdamron@drummondltd.com
