I would like to add my support to the proposed port at Longview and ask that the environmental study proceed rapidly.
Coal should not be considered toxic especially in regards to the elements / minerals contained in coal. Please note the soil samples reported by Oregon DEQ during the Boardman coal terminal hearings, all contain naturally occurring amounts of mercury, arsenic, selenium, etc. higher than what is found in western U.S. coal. There the study showed that exiting natural dirt was more toxic than western coal.
In today's economic climate, the importance of adding a significant amount of family wage jobs should not be taken lightly. Millennium's proposal is showing a commitment to being environmentally responsible, making safety a priority, and helping fuel our economy which is what we need. Please take these things in consideration while deciding the scope of this project. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely, Bill Baumberger email@example.com
