I support American jobs and the proposed port at Longview will create much needed employment for hundreds of Americans. Please include my comments as part of the public response to Millennium Bulk Terminals plan.
Unlike many port operations, Millennium occupies a location without immediate residential neighborhoods, AND it is an existing brownfield site. The EIS should acknowledge that alternate locations do not exist for situating an export coal facility with the necessary water and rail access but without "gentrification impacts" from existing or potential residential development at an exiting brownfield site along the Columbia River.
This scope is being finely crafted. The progress this port represents should not be hampered. It's time to get folks back to work! Being an ex coal miner myself, I know the impact of interfering with the process of mining and shipments of our product. It will cost thousands of jobs, ruin many coal mining towns, interrupt many other facilities. America needs these jobs as well as the coal for many of our fellow Americans who depend on coal as their main fuel for the heating of their homes.
Sincerely, FOREST E ANDERSON email@example.com
