Nov 8, 2013

Millennium Bulk Terminals Lead Agencies

Dear Millennium Bulk Terminals Lead Agencies,

I strongly oppose the construction of any and all coal export terminals. Placing a coal terminal at Longview, WA is reminiscent of the coaling stations used for refueling before and during WWII.

The Longview, WA proposal would hurt or harm communities throughout the world by increasing congestion and noise with more coal train traffic. The continued pollution of the air we breathe and further contamination of our local waterways is not conducive to the beneficence of the American homeland. The Longview, WA coal terminal proposal will further damage the few remaining aquatic ecosystems and fishing areas left on the Columbia River. Increased harm of human health and the escalation of potential shipping accidents and spills is in direct contradiction to the mission statement of the US Army Corp of Engineers HQ which states '...reduce risks from disasters.'

I urge you to consider these impacts in the scope of the Environmental Impact Statement and ask you to deny any further proposals from the Longview, WA company.

Thank you.
