I oppose development of a major coal export terminal in Longview, WA for several reasons. First, the proposed coal ports on the West Coast will destroy pasture and hay meadows, and so Montana ranchers. Second, coal in the Otter Creek coal mine is destructive to the landscape to mine. Third, the increase in coal traffic through all towns, including mine, Missoula, is a detriment to air quality and human health. Fourth: coal is the leading contributor to greenhouse gases leading to climate change. We need to discourage the use of coal while developing other sources of energy. This port won't be built in a vacuum: its development affects a wider geographic and demographic area than your EIS has accounted for. For these reasons I urge your agencies to oppose this development. Thank you.
