To Whom it May Concern, My name is Bryce Bennett and I represent House District 92 (Missoula's Rattlesnake Valley, Seeley Lake, and Condon) in the Montana Legislature. I have concerns that the Army Corps of Engineers and Washington Department of Ecology need to take into account as they review the proposed coal port at Longview. They include but are not limited to: Health impacts from diesel fumes and coal dust -Given Missoula's inversion this is very real problem. During fire season our air quality deteriorates very quickly We have a justifiable concern that this project would create similar problems. Rail crossings and emergency vehicle access to the Rattlesnake -The Rattlesnake are has only two roads that allow us to connect to the rest of the city or escape in the event of an emergency. One of the entrances is blocked when trains come into town. With increased train traffic we have concerns that Missoulians may not get access to life saving emergency care. This is an issue that certainly deserves your consideration. Climate impacts of burning coal in Asia -Outside of the concerns that affect Missoula specifically I would ask that you pay attention to the continued threat of climate change. The health of the plant and the billions of people on it is continuously put in jeopardy by the rise in the use of fossil fuels. I appreciate your consideration, Rep. Bryce Bennett House District 92
