We know there will be jobs and tax dollars resulting from the proposed Millennium Bulk Terminal, but I am concerned that there will also be negative economic impacts effecting Longview citizens, regional citizens with potential impacts all the way to the mining areas in the Powder River Basin.
These impacts will be far beyond site specific.
Please study and identify the costs of transportation delays on lost work time, reduced commerce for Longview businesses from Oregon residents; quantify the cost of inconvenience due to reduced Level of Service all along the rail corridor from the mine to the terminal.
At what cost to taxpayers will the at-grade crossings be made safer and less intrusive?
Consider the capacity of the rail corridor and the impact of 16 unit trains per day on that capacity level and how this would effect commerce of other products along the line.
