Submission Text
Please do not allow Millennium Bulk Terminals-Longview to build this terminal. 1) It will require shipping coal through Portland, with associated coal dust spreading everywhere. 2) Then the coal will be burned in China. Trade winds are already bringing pollution from Chinese coal-fired power plants across the Pacific--mercury from those plants has already been detected in waterways in Florida. 3) Finally, burning coal releases more greenhouse gases and particulates than any other fuel. It's not only bad for the U.S., it's bad for the planet. The only persons who benefit will be the stockholders of Millenium Bulk Terminals--the rest of us, our children, and our children's children will pay a terrible price.
