Please consider the impacts of this proposed terminal on ALL of the communities along the railway, since, if built, it would definitely impact us all -- in an extremely negative way. I work in Washougal and live in Camas, WA. Both communities would be seriously affected by the proposed increase in coal train traffic. Washougal has many at-grade crossings. I already wait for train traffic frequently. An increase in coal train traffic is not only a traffic concern (and by traffic I also include emergency vehicles and school transport) but it is such a DIRTY transport. I have witnessed coal dust blowing off cars while hiking in the Columbia River Gorge. Washougal and Camas regularly receive the gorge winds too. Two schools are extremely close to the tracks, especially Jemtegaard Middle School, which looks right across Evergreen Way to the rail line. I work at the Washougal School District Office, also located directly on the tracks. The proposed coal-related rail traffic concerns me greatly. I think the potential risks to student health should be a consideration. I am very sure that the coal shipped to support an export terminal would be damaging to my local community, but I also worry about our global community. If this coal is dug and shipped and burned, a great deal of carbon will be released -- carbon emissions that we as a global society cannot afford. Recent weather disasters should be ample proof. We, as a country, need to be much smarter in our exporting choices. I am very pro-jobs and pro-work, but all for safe, smart and less-polluting options. We deserve those kinds of jobs. Please conduct a broad review of the impacts of the proposed terminal. If those impacts are not considered, you are allowing one company's profits to overrule the protection of many citizens. One foreign company's profits, I might add.... Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Cassi Marshall, 521 NE 17th Ave., Camas, WA 98607
