Submission Text
My name is Francine and I am a student at Western Washington University. I am concerned that this proposed coal terminal will negatively impact, alter and disrupt natural processes of the local marine ecosystem. I adamantly request a thorough analysis to measure the impact this development will have on the environment, particularly marine mammals and their habitat. An aggravation or loss of threatened and endangered marine species puts at risk the next generation's ability to see, appreciate, interact with and continue to protect marine mammals. It is the responsibility of each generation to not merely maintain present environmental conditions through mitigating detrimental behaviors, but to leave behind a healthier space for species to recover and flourish. If this coal terminal is determined to do anything but uphold this value or is found in any way to further degrade a marine ecosystem, I ask that the permit be denied.
