The proposed Millennium Bulk Terminals in Longview, WA, is co-owned by Arch Coal, who also wants to build a massive coal strip-mine at Otter Creek and export the coal to Asia.
This port would have serious effects on Montanans:
Health impacts from coal train diesel fumes and coal dust.
Blocking crucial intersections and make it harder for emergency vehicles cross tracks.
Threat to economic development and property values along the rail line.
Increase dpressure to ruin a productive agricultural valley and its water with a strip mine at Otter Creek.
Threat of eminent domain to condemn family farm and ranch land for the Tongue River Railroad.
Energy corporations profit and Asia burns coal, pollution drifts back to US West Coast within days. The citizens of Montanans need to be protected from this threats to health, clean environment and vibrant economy, and this impact needs to be evaluated in decision whether or not to permit the terminal. I urge you to reject permit to build this proposed terminal. We need to leave the coal in the ground and concentrate on renewal energy sources for US citizens.
