I am writing today to express my concern about the proposed coal export scheme for Longview. Recent weather events in the western Pacific are consistent with climate change modeling which predicts stronger storms due to increased ocean temperatures and more moisture in the air. Is it wise to continue to encourage the use of coal and other forms of fossil fuels which are known to be exacerbating these conditions. In addition to these important and ominous macro events, coal transport and burning create hazardous health conditions by releasing heavy metals and air pollution into local and indeed, the global environment. The use of these carbon intensive fuels must be reduced on a massive scale. Please include these concerns in your analysis because this is not only a local issue. Thanks you for your attention.
