We are counting on a thorough review process by area-wide agencies to protect our health, environment and communities from coal exports, specifically from coal trains and barges. The Longview coal export terminal would negatively affect the Pacific Northwest by escalating climate change, increasing congestion and noise with more coal train traffic, polluting air and local waterways, harming existing businesses, delaying emergency responders, damaging aquatic ecosystems and fishing grounds at the terminal site, and increasing tanker traffic and the potential for serious shipping accidents. I urge you to consider all of these impacts in the scope of your Environmental Impact Statement. Coal is an energy source from the past, not for the future. There is no safe way to transport Powder River Basin coal through Washington and Oregon. The Pacific Northwest is NOT coal country!! I strongly oppose shipping Powder River Basin coal through the Millennium Bulk Terminals at Longview, Washington.
