I Live near downtown Missoula, the coal trains already have a significant impact on our lives. The empty coal cars are inspected and coupled in the downtown area and residential parts of Missoula. The noise from the coupling has been measured at over 115 decibels. The sound waves from this work shakes our building. Also there is a crossing near our home, the engines often sound the warning horns as they assemble the empty coal cars. The noise pollution is frequent. In addition depending on the wind the deisel from the engines working on this coupling drifts into our home. The fact that we live near the tracks does not mean that we have given up our right to clean air and excessive noise pollution.
