I and my family do not want the Longview Port to be built to accommodate more trains. My family and I live two miles from the railroad tracks that will carry trains heading for the Longview Port. I am very concerned about the immediate and long-term health effects from increasing the number of trains. I am concerned about coal dust, the problem of potential spills, the noise, and the delay for emergency vehicles reaching us on the "other side of the tracks." I have a pulmonary condition that is very sensitive to dust, air pollution and allergens. That is one reason why our family moved from Atlanta to Bozeman and I would like the air and general environment to stay as clean and healthy as possible.
I am also concerned about the long-term environmental effects of burning the coal in China. When coal is improperly burned for fuel, it pollutes badly. We have seen that the Chinese do not follow our EPA regulations when burning coal. Those carbon emissions affect the health of the entire globe because they increase global warming. And we now know that global warming is affecting all of us, not just the Chinese. Therefore, building the Longview Port just to make more money for Arch Coal is the wrong thing to do. Please do not do this. Thank you.
