When reviewing the Longview port applicaiton, please consider the impacts to Montana communities like mine along the rail line.
The rail line is the center of our town - it runs along our main street with homes, schools, grocery stores and parks the way. We watch coal trains pass by our living room all day long, many a day. It's clear that diesel fumes and coal dust spread across our community.
Half of our community is on the other side of the rail line from the fire station and access to hospitals -- when long coal trains block the intersection, it blocks those emergency vehicles too.
If this port is approved, we can expect even more coal train traffic then we already endure.
Coal doesn't just show up at those ports - it's trafficked through our town. Please consider the impacts to Montana rail line and coal mining communities - to take the full scope of the impacts of the Longview Port into consideration. Our concerns must not be ignored.
