The League of Women Voters of Bellingham/Whatcom County is submitting three comments for your consideration. Our League has studied the viability of an export pier at Cherry Point since the early 1970s and we have been advocating for full disclosure of the process for granting permits for deep water ports and coal shipments in Washington State. We are concerned that the EIS for the Millennium Bulk Terminal Project is comprehensive so that the true costs and benefits from the project are evaluated and that their be a thorough study of the impact on the Salish Sea, on the health of Washington residents, and impacts on our transportation system.
