Dear decision-makers:
I hope you will agree with my concerns about constructing of a coal export terminal at Longview, WA. Transporting coal in open rail cars and on huge cargo ships increases congestion and noise, risks further air pollution and pollution of local waterways, threatens existing businesses, and could delay emergency responders. Aquatic ecosystems and fishing areas on the Columbia River are also at risk. Worse yet, increased tanker traffic risks disastrous shipping accidents and spills. Mining the coal for the terminal would expand strip-mining and increase the speed of climate change.
Please make sure the EIS addresses all these points fully and fairly. You'll be proud of yourself if you do.
Thank you.
