Allow me to voice my strong support for the proposed port at Longview. We need to move on with the environmental study as quickly as possible. I've toured the Millennium facility and have listened to their plans for expansion and the steps they are taking to make the process of transporting and shipping coal safe. We are already transporting coal on rail car through Washington, and I have seen them traveling along Interstate 5 and into Longview. I'm also aware of Weyerhauser using coal in its production facility in Longview. In fact it is being delivered to, unloaded, and transported to their site through the Millennium property. We are already doing this work, just at a much smaller scale. Millennium has been an active partner in the planning for increased economic development in our area and in the SR432 work on expanding the rail lines through Longview. I believe Millennium has showed concern and a commitment for keeping rail traffic congestion at a minimum and is working as an active partner with the planning entities to see this happen. I believe that Millennium Bulk Terminals has done a great deal to assure that environmental protections are put in place for its proposed import/export terminal. I see Millennium as being an asset to the surrounding communities and the economic outlook of our nation as a whole. Please see that this project is allowed to proceed. Sincerely, Scott Westlund swestlund@comcast.net
