The trade industry is one of the bright spots in an otherwise bleak economy. Please approve the coal export terminal at Cowlitz County and speed up the environmental study to help get our economy moving again. Basic economic principles already tells us that not one ton more of coal will be used globally because of exports at Millennium; supply routes have no effect on demand. Moreover, the history of US use of PBR coal indicates that the use of PBR coal in coal based energy countries will result in a reduction of net GHG given the lower sulfur and other lower GHG emission characteristics of PBR coal; thus, the net gain in greenhouse gas emissions is insignificant. Keep it realistic. Keep it local. We hear a lot of opinions about coal, but the reality of the Millennium Project is that it will have state-of-the-art equipment and best of all will bring life back to a site that has been left stagnant for some time. Many of us would love to have the opportunity to spend our entire career in one place. Millennium is offering that to us. Why not take advantage? If people insist "we can do better" then why haven't we? Sincerely, Ron Destefano rdestefano@cdgengineers.com
