Dear and Cowlitz County Commission,
To the Army Corps of Engineers WA Dept. of Ecology
and to the Cowlitz County Commission
Recent reports of a deadly level of smog in China, caused largely by the heavy use of coal for heating and industrial processes, make one realize the crucial importance of developing alternate sources of power and heating. A coal export facility at Longview will encourage and facilitate the continued use of coal for these purposes. A policy that endangers human health, both in Asia and out own Northwestern states, is nearsighted and flies in the face of what we know about the prevention of respiratory disease. I strongly oppose the development of a coal export facility at Longview and strongly recommend that a Health Impact Assessment be done before any action if taken.
Thank you,
