The Department of Ecology should speedily complete the environmental study for the Millennium Bulk Terminals. Cowlitz County has a chronically high unemployment rate. There are environmental impacts of building trades and longshore workers having to travel as far as the Port of Seattle for work on a daily basis, instead of going to a job at Millennium. The impacts and air emissions related to no longer commuting to Seattle and Portland for work should be noted as an environmental benefit of the project. We hear a lot of opinions about coal, but the reality of the Millennium Project is that it will have state-of-the-art equipment and best of all will bring life back to a site that has been left stagnant for some time. Many of us would love to have the opportunity to spend our entire career in one place. Millennium is offering that to us. Why not take advantage? If people insist "we can do better" then why haven't we? Sincerely, Norm Sve Norm Sve ndsve@wyomingcat.com
