The environmental study for the Cowlitz County port should be completed expeditiously. Any American operation that puts people back to work should be supported in these tough economic times. Coal exports are a huge opportunity for the Northwest. The infrastructure coal companies are creating will expand trade of all kinds, from apples to software. This was the conclusion of a Farm Bureau Study published in June - that coal export infrastructure will make it cheaper and faster to export goods of all kinds. At a time of increased competition from both West and East Coast ports, Washington needs to seize these opportunities to expand trade and create thousands of family-wage jobs. Regulators should take these economic considerations into account when designing their scope of review. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to submit these comments on the scoping. Let's get this project moving forward so there are more good-paying jobs in the U.S.A. Sincerely, Gary gary.rivenes@cldpk.com
