Dear and Cowlitz County Commission,
It is a fact: coal is the most dangerous and toxic fossil fuel. I strongly oppose the construction of a coal export terminal at Longview, Washington.
Coal dust blows off the trains and it contains of mercury, lead, arsenic, and cadmium. Mercury and lead cause altered mental acuity. Arsenic and cadmium are carcinogens. The trains carrying the coal use diesel fuel and diesel exhaust causes asthma, heart disease and is linked to cancer.
I urge you to consider these impacts within the scope of the Environmental Impact Statement, and to include a comprehensive Health Impact Assessment with a public scoping process.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nancy Crumpacker 2351 NW Westover Rd Unit 701 Portland, OR 97210-3783
