Oct 25, 2013
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, WA Department of Ecology, and Cowlitz County Commission
Dear and Cowlitz County Commission,
There are many good reasons to oppose opening this coal export terminal but there's one that trumps them all. the science is very clear. the planet is warming and burning fossil fuels is responsible. we know this with the same certainty that we know cigarette smoking leads to increased risk of cancer.
If we want our children and grandchildren to inhabit a planet that is made ugly by desertification, that is reeling from social disruption from massive population shifts from rising sea levels and war over shrinking supplies of water and fertile land then by all means approve the coal export facility. If we hope to leave for our children the same beautiful and fertile planet that we have all benefitted from then the choice is crystal clear. We cannot start exporting massive amounts of coal to Asia. We will all suffer the consequences and our grandchildren will wonder why the hell we were so greedy and so willing to mortgage their future.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Dr. charles forster 2906 Shelton Ave Yakima, WA 98902-4073
