Dear of Engineers,
You know, I'm really starting to get tired of the coal industry basically saying 'nothing that gets between us and our money matters'. Put me down as an American who opposes the construction of a coal export terminal in Longview, Washington, which would transport coal on trains and ships through the Pacific Northwest.
This terminal? This would SERIOUSLY ruin public health and water quality throughout the Columbia River basin. The coal dust (I'm a 9/11 responder- coal dust may not be asbestos and concrete dust but it's still an awful thing to breathe) will do no one any favors. Don't get me started on the diesel fumes, either. The directly resulting increase in coal pollution would significantly worsen climate change, ocean acidification, mercury pollution, and threaten the survival of our critically endangered salmon runs- and I'm a big, BIG fan of salmon as a food fish. C'mon, you can't tell me salmon is'nt a major part of the Pacific Northwest's economy. Not to mention what the pollution would do to the resident orca population.
I urge you to consider these impacts in the scope of the Environmental Impact Statement. Thank you.
In addition, I request that you stop all proposed coal export terminals in the Pacific Northwest. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jessica Mcgeary 19 Seymour St Fl 3 Winthrop, MA 02152-2027
