Submission Text
I would like the government agencies involved in the EIS process for the Millennium Bulk coal export terminal in Longview to evaluate the following potential impacts: 1) bird, mammal, reptile and plant habitat destruction, groundwater contamination, slope instability and landslides from removing the coal in Montana and Wyoming 2) green house gas emissions from the fuel the trains transporting the coal to Longview consume; impact of coal ash along the Columbia River; noise and traffic impacts along the train route 3) destruction of habitat at the terminal; contamination from open storage of coal at the terminal 4)pollution from fuel the tankers consume transporting coal to Asia; possibility of ocean contamination if coal is lost overboard or if the tanker capsizes 5) All the above potential impacts would also affect the terminals and transport in Asia 6) contribution to greenhouse gases and subsequent global warming from burning the coal in countries often without rigorous environmental regulations. 7) the social and mental health impacts if the government continues to permit coal terminals and the use of coal in light of our global warming emergency
