Dear U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, WA Department of Ecology, and Cowlitz County Commission,
I appose exporting coal, and I strongly object to plans for shipping through my state and my town of Spokane. Coal is the dirtiest fossil fuel. The oceans are trending to biological and ecological collapse due to acidification caused by anthropogenic CO2 emissions -- more coal will speed this terrifying trend. The very idea of further jeopardizing our air, water, and oceans for an increase in income for Berkshire Hathaway shareholders, a miniscule fraction of the U.S. population, is ludicrous. I don't feel that the 'benefits' will at all be spread around. I don't feel that coal dusted air, noise, and traffic jams are worth the handful of jobs the train traffic will bring to Spokane. Stop using coal. Don't encourage its use overseas.
