Dear U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, WA Department of Ecology, and Cowlitz County,
As a resident of La Grande, Oregon I am, of course, concerned with the impacts on my area caused by 48 million tons of coal traveling through Oregon and Washington each year. Health issues most specifically. The Northwest prides itself on being “Green and Clean” and thinking out the box when it comes to longterm implications. This whole project seems to have the stench of short sighted, self-serving, personal greed. It would benefit few while causing damage to many. The extraction of coal from our nation’s mountains, the transporting of it through countless states and finally the burning of it in our global neighbor’s already stressed environments are all destructive and far outweigh the benefits.
Please, please, please listen to other voices than the ones who want to make a short term profit on this project. We are better than this.
Thank you,
Kim Ridder 63732 Hunter Rd. La Grande, OR 97850 5416630378
