Submission Text
I feel strongly that the environmental impact statement for the coal terminal at Longview must be based on the broad ramifications of the terminal. These would include air quality and water quality issues pertaining to coal dust, diesel exhaust from the many additional trains hauling the coal ALL along the route from the mines to the terminal. It must also include other health-safety issues such as traffic interruption at grade crossings where fire trucks and/or ambulances must wait to cross, etc. I also feel it is appropriate and essential to consider the effect on climate change from the transport and burning of the coal, as well as the air quality of the pollution drifting to our continent and area from Asian coal-power plants. We must take the LONG VIEW of this terminal, not just the short-range impact.
