Dear USCOE, WDOE and Cowliz County:

The date is September 17th and I just went for a swim in Lake Coeur d'Alene. This is the latest date I have ever been swimming in the lake and the water isn't even cold. Last week temperatures set a record high of 94 degrees. My point is obvious.... we know that climate change is being fueled by the use of fossil fuels. Why would we even consider shipping dirty coal to China when they are already a major contributor to global warming? How about letting China develop green sources of energy to fuel their ridiculous growth paradigm. In addition to fueling environmentally destructive climate change, coal mining is one of the most horribly polluting, habitat destroying, forms of mining still being utilized in the U.S. It should be banned here not exported to China!

Then we look at the potential for coal spills during the shipping process. I don't know about you, but I happen to like Puget Sound and all the unique critters that inhabit our waterways. In summary, exporting coal to China while destroying our precious natural resources, is the stupidest idea I ever heard of. Why are we even considering this??

Sincerely,

Lisa Fitzner 19947 West CDA Lake Shore Coeur d Alene, Idaho 83814
