Allow me to submit my comments regarding Millennium Bulk Terminals proposed port at Longview. I fully support this project.
Coal is not toxic in water - coal is not soluble and chemical bonds are only released through burning. The DOE approved water treatment facility at the old Reynolds aluminum site (now MBTL) has large water filters that contain anthracite coal to clean the water. Please note the final water polishing step before being discharged to the river is coal and has been for decades. If the purpose of the Environmental Impact Study is to look at environmental impacts above and beyond what exist at the site today, then no study or change is needed in regards to coal and the water discharge permit.
This proposal will see that jobs are returned, the local and regional economy is stimulated, tax revenues are increased, and environmental standards are maintained. This is what Cowlitz County needs in our present economy. Please move the scoping process along as soon as possible.
Sincerely, Danielle Ramey email@example.com
