Chances are high that you, like me, have family. Too, that you, like me, care deeply for your family, friends, neighbors. From this core group of people, we meet others along the way, or read about others who live in neighboring communities, states, countries or across the world.
I'm asking you to please think for a moment about those people who had nothing to do with the fact that the Earth is getting hotter, losing land, our waters are becoming toxic and or air dirty. This group includes people who are underprivileged, children and those yet unborn. They are not able to slow down these destructive processes. But you and I can.
We must stop mining, transporting and burning coal. It is simply a fact. How? Let's begin by studying fully the impacts of a coal terminal in Longview. Fully, meaning the health effects of people along the path of transportation, those working at the terminal, those breathing coal as it burns in Asian countries we may export to. A FULL environmental study.
Before you decide on coal for the Longview terminal, please investigate the impact, too, on emergency vehicle response time in neighboring towns such as Skamania.
